When Will This Nightmare End...

The Broncos heartbreakingly lose another game. The Broncos scored 16 points. The defense was amazing. These statements have been said in every game this season so far. I have been an advocate for patience as we do have a new team but at some point, the team needs to show signs of improvement and they have not at all. I could go all day talking about what went wrong in this game and how the Broncos could have approached certain situations differently but it doesn't seem worth it because it is the same mistakes every week. This team since 2016 has had mediocre to subpar offense paired with great defense. Up till 2021, it made sense because we had a revolving door at QB and inconsistency at coaching. However, now that we have a hall-of-fame QB with a head coach that helped coach the back-to-back MVP in previous years, we should be seeing more consistency from the offensive side of the ball. How does the offense look even worse than in previous years? They are not even averaging 16 points. With weapons like Hamler, Jeudy, and Sutton, there is no way the Broncos should be the last-ranked scoring offense. Yes, they are the last-ranked scoring offense at 15.2 points per game. Everyone is criticizing Russ and Hackett and rightfully so but I want to speak more about the receivers. They are starting to look a little overrated. Every time they would show the field from Russ's point of view from the game last night, I would see little to no separation from the receivers and my biggest gripe is with Jeudy. His specialty is route running. If he can't get open then what purpose does he serve? He doesn't do a good job making contested catches so if he doesn't have separation then he doesn't do much for the team. Sutton did not have a great game last night but he has been clutch all season making difficult catches on 3rd downs so I'm not as down on him and I believe Hamler just needs more opportunities because he has shown he can take the top off of the defense. Onto the running backs. Latavius Murray looked solid averaging more than 4 yards a carry in his debut as a Bronco. It was nice to see a back that kept the offense on schedule putting them in 2nd/3rd and manageable. As for Melvin Gordon, his time as a Bronco is coming to an end. He had just 3 carries last night. That should tell you everything about how the coaching staff feels about Melvin Gordon. Also, Gordon liked a couple of tweets on Twitter that entertained the idea of him leaving Denver. My explanation for this team is that they are cursed. This team made some deal with the devil for Super Bowl 50 and ever since that game they have not even come close to sniffing the playoffs outside of 2016. This is going to be a very tough season.
