The Broncos are still not out of the playoff race but they need to win out and get some help around the league. According to the playoff machine in the New York Times, the Broncos have a 79% to make the playoffs if they win out. With the schedule they have remaining, that looks very promising. Here's a rooting guide for the Broncos this week. I will be doing this for the rest of the season assuming the Broncos keep winning.
Assuming the Broncos win:
Bengals - Steelers:
Root for a Steelers win as the Steelers have 7 losses already. The Bengals losing their 7th game would put them behind Denver in the standings.
Bills - Chargers:
The Broncos have a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Bills so they need to get that 7th loss in the loss column to keep them behind Denver.
Browns - Texans:
This one is tough but the team that loses this game needs to lose one more game. The Browns play the Jets and Bengals while the Texans play the Titans and Colts. Looks like the Texans have tougher closing 2 games so root for the Browns. But if the Texans win it is possible the Browns lose to the Bengals. But if I had to choose one team to lose, it would be the Texans.
Colts - Falcons:
Pretty simple, NFC over AFC and get the Colts to 7 losses.
Jags - Bucs:
Root for NFC in case the Jags do fall into the wild card race which is entirely possible.
Raiders - Chiefs:
As long as the Division is still winnable mathematically, just keep rooting against the Chiefs but root for them next week. You'll see why next week.
These are all the games that matter to us so hopefully some of these games go our way. First and foremost a win vs NE.
