The Broncos' schedule is a little brutal this year. They face the AFC East which has not just added Aaron Rodgers, the NFC North, who lost Aaron Rodgers but the Lions and Bears look poised for big years and not to mention the Vikings are always good every year and oh yeah they play in the AFC west which unfortunately has a team that won last year's Super Bowl. Can the Broncos finally end the 7-year drought of not making the postseason? Let's take a look.
Week 1 - Broncos vs Raiders: Win
With the Jimmy Garopollo situation being a mess, we are unsure who the Raiders QB will be in week 1. I doubt even the Raiders even know at this point so with the Raiders getting very limited to figure out their QB situation I got Denver winning this game to start the season.
Week 2 - Broncos vs Commanders: Win
The Commanders don't have a great QB in their roster and haven't made much progress in the offseason to upgrade their team so I expect another Denver win at home.
Week 3 - Broncos @ Dolphins: Loss
This will be a tough matchup and I give this one a loss mainly due to it being on the road Denver sometimes does not play their best ball on the road in the morning slot of games and the Dolphins are a very good football team now with the addition of Jalen Ramsey at CB and Vic Fangio as DC will be looking to get some revenge vs his old team
Week 4 - Broncos @ Bears: Win
The Bears are still young and figuring things out and I believe this is the week Javonte Williams will be back in full form after the ACL tear a year ago.
Week 5 - Broncos vs Jets: Loss
Nathaniel Hackett and Rodgers come to town, and I believe Russ and Sean Payton will still be trying to get used to each other even at this point in the season. That will not be the case for the Jets as many former Packers are Jets now and Hackett and Rodgers are familiar with each other. The team with the better continuity will win this game and I believe that team is the Jets at this point in the season.
Week 6 - Broncos @ Chiefs(TNF): Loss
Coming off a short week and going into Arrowhead will be tough. Playing the Chiefs in KC is tough on any day of the week. So that will be another loss.
Week 7 - Broncos vs Packers: Win
The Broncos will have a nice bounce-back game after back-to-back losses and this feels like the week Russ and Payton start figuring each other out and start clicking. They should cruise to victory this week.
Week 8 - Broncos vs Chiefs: Win
The Broncos will finally beat the Chiefs! I know I have said that many years in a row, but it'll finally happen this year. It needs to. I have no real analysis for this one I just really want to see it happen. Broncos win.
Week 10 - Broncos @ Bills(MNF): Loss
The Broncos have not won in Buffalo in a long time and I do not see that changing any time soon as they still have an elite QB with good wideouts and Von Miller should be back in form after his injury last year.
Week 11 - Broncos vs Vikings (SNF): Win
The Vikings are a hard team to predict but this feels like a hard-fought game that will come down to the wire and I trust Russell Wilson in the clutch more than I trust Kirk Cousins in the clutch in primetime so Denver will win a close one this week.
Week 12 - Broncos vs Browns: Win
The Browns will be a disaster this year.
Week 13 - Broncos @ Texans: Win
The Texans will be a little better this year and I believe we will see CJ Stroud playing this game but they are still too young and inexperienced and Denver at this point should be very comfortable with Payton at HC.
Week 14 - Broncos @ Chargers: Loss
Division games are unpredictable so I hate predicting these games but the Broncos haven't won in LA since 2019 so I expect that trend to keep going.
Week 15 - Broncos @ Lions: Win
The Lions will be a very good team in 2023 and I expect this game to be very close. However, in a December game, I don't see Russ and Sean losing a critical game like this. Campbell is still a new coach and I feel like late in the game he will be out-coached.
Week 16 - Broncos vs Patriots(Christmas Eve - SNF): Win
The Patriots may get Hopkins but that doesn't move the needle much for me as I don't think Mac Jones is the answer and will be going through some QB carousel this season and I expect this to be a pretty easy win for Denver.
Week 17 - Broncos vs Chargers: Win
Similar to how the Broncos haven't won in LA since 2019, the Chargers have not won in Denver since 2018 and haven't swept them in more than a decade so just by history alone Denver should win this game.
Week 18 - Broncos @ Raiders: Win
The Raiders will likely have a very bad year and at this point, they have nothing to play for and Denver might have a lot to play for so I expect the Broncos to win and sweep the Raiders for the first time since 2014.
Final Record: 12-5
