Tim Patrick has torn his Achilles and is now out for the 2023 season. This is so heartbreaking to hear. Tim Patrick tore his ACL a year prior around the same time and missed all of 2022. And for him to come back and overcome the physical and mental obstacles as well, seeing him going back to square one is so tough to watch and I still hope he can have a comeback story for the ages. His silver lining can be Klay Thompson. He dealt with a very similar situation. He tore his ACL in the 2019 NBA Finals and as he was ready to make his way back on the court, he tore his Achilles before the 2020 season. However, he came back on January 9 of 2022 and helped the Warriors become champs for the first time in 4 years. It is unfortunate what happened to Tim Patrick but Broncos country has his back and we know he'll be back ready to help this team compete for Super Bowls.
The KJ Hamler situation is different. According to KJ himself, he stated on Instagram that he has a mild heart irritation called pericarditis which is the "swelling and irritation of a thin sack-like tissue surrounding the heart". He stated that he has a treatment plan and will be back. He will be waived by the Broncos but will be claimed back on the roster when he is ready.
I hope these 2 men come back healthy physically and most importantly emotionally. I know it can't be easy not being able to play the game they love because of physical limitations. All we can do as fans is understand that they are human beings too and support them rather than complain that their injuries derail our team's chances of winning.
