This Determines Our Season!

This game will define the rest of the season. A 2-5 record puts Denver in a very tough spot and makes it unlikely they will be one of the 14 teams playing in the postseason. A 3-4 record is not ideal either but it gives the Broncos a puncher's chance to make some noise at the top of the standings this year. On a side note, Russell Wilson is questionable for this game. Regardless of whether Rypien or Wilson starts, the game plan should be very simple. Establish the run.

The Broncos will either be entering the game with a hobbled Russ Wilson or a backup QB which screams for a run-heavy game plan. It won't be easy vs the Jets who have been impressive the last couple of weeks defensively. The Jets walloped the Packers 27-10 last Sunday where defense and special teams were the catalysts for the wins. There's no denying that the Jets have been very impressive on the defensive side of the ball. The Broncos on the other hand have been abysmal on offense scoring just 15.2 points per game which is ranked dead last on the season. So it seems that is not the ideal week to have a get-right game for a struggling offense. I believe the main game plan for the Broncos' offense should be to limit mistakes and run the ball well enough to remain on schedule. Getting into 3rd and long situations will only ask for trouble. Now onto the other side of the ball where the Broncos have a big advantage.

The Broncos' defense is ranked 4th in scoring, 5th against the pass, and 13th against the run. The good news for the Broncos is that these numbers will most likely improve after this game as the Jets have been mediocre on offense. Zach Wilson has done a decent job keeping the ball out of harm's way the last few games not tossing an INT. He also has not thrown a TD either in the last 2 games. On the season he has 1 TD and 2 Ints and all of those numbers came in his 2022 debut vs the Steelers. He has not been bad by any means but his production should not scare the Broncos and hopefully, they can force a couple of mistakes from the young QB as he is due for a game with multiple turnovers after going back-to-back weeks playing clean football. One player the Broncos' defense needs to pay attention to is rookie running back Breece Hall. He has been sensational for this team putting up nearly 276 yards on the ground with 3 TDs along with 117 receiving yards. The Broncos' run defense has been a little suspect all year so they must be ready to game plan for him

This game will consist not only of 2 of the best young corners in the game but 2 of the best corners in the game period. Sauce Gardner and PS2 have been unbelievable as neither of them has given up a touchdown. Gardner has had 9 passes defended while Surtain has had 5 passes defended and just came out of a game where held Mike Williams to 2 catches and 17 yards. QBs are not even throwing in the direction of these 2 young studs anymore. I am excited to see how Sutton matches up with Sauce because I believe that will be the matchup come Sunday.

The Broncos have lost 3 straight, and the Jets have won 3 straight. I think both teams are due for a streak to end and that is why I got the Broncos. Never bet against a desperate team.

Prediction:

Broncos 24-17

Russ/Rypein: 200 yards and 1 TD

Gordon/Murray: 110 yards and 1 TD

Defense: 3 Sacks, 2 INT and 1 TD
