The Broncos will face the Jaguars in London on Sunday Morning at 7:30 MST. Nathaniel Hackett confirmed today that Russell Wilson will be starting the game barring any major setback. The injury that Russ suffered was a partially torn hamstring. It seems to be an injury that should be sidelining him for more than a couple of weeks but instead, he will only be missing one game. I would have liked to see him rest till the bye week and give Rypien a full week of practice with the starters and see how he does. I admire Russ's desire to get back on the field but it might be to the detriment of the team.
Let's go back to last season. Russell Wilson injured his thumb in week 5 last season. It was an injury that was supposed to sideline him for around 6-8 weeks but instead he came back in 3 weeks. He did not play very well at all in his first couple of games backs tossing for 0 TDs and 2 INT in his first 2 games back. He eventually picked up his play in the latter third of the season but at that point, the Seahawks were well out of contention. My point is that his coming back prematurely again from injury does not seem to be the right move and history backs me up on it. Hopefully the offensive line and run game can complement him on Sunday so he doesn't feel all the pressure in the world to make a play every time he has the ball, especially with a bad hamstring.
As far as the report that he did high knees and watched film for 7 out of the 8 hours on the plane, I could care less. He needs to put together a solid performance if he wants Broncos Country to have any faith in him still because right now things are looking very bleak. I am rooting for a bounce-back performance for Russ but given how unpredictable hamstring injuries are, I don't know what to expect from him.
Prediction:
Broncos: 20
Jaguars: 24
I don't think it will be a pretty day for the Broncos once again and the Jags have lost so many close games in the final 2 minutes so it feels like they are due for a win after losing 4 straight.
Stat Predictions:
Russ: 240 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Run Game: 110 Yards, 1 TD
Defense: 2 Sacks, 1 FF
I want to hear your thoughts:
