The Broncos beat the Saints in prime time 33-10. They took care of business against an injury-riddled team. I don't want to overreact, but it was a good win, and I had some quick takeaways from the game:
Javonte is back?
Javonte Williams had his best game of the season by far, as he had 88 yards on 14 carries and scored 2 TDs. Let's hope this is a sign to come because we will need him against teams like Baltimore and KC
Defense
I feel like I say this week after week, but the defense was once again dominant as they racked up six sacks, two turnovers, and a touchdown. The team has 28 sacks on the season, which is the most in Franchise history through 7 weeks. Build that Vance Joseph statue ASAP.
Nix Growing Pains
Nix was efficient and played mistake-free football, which is all you can ask from a Rookie on the road, as he was 16/26 for 164 yards with no TDs and no INTs. He still needs to clean up his footwork because he had some throws here he missed wide-open receivers. When he gets rid of the ball quickly, he is very accurate, but when he is forced to extend and make a play, the throws go a little sideways, and it almost proved costly when the ball hit Tyrann Mathieu right in the chest and, to my surprise, he dropped it. Overall, though, I was impressed with him, and as long as he continues to make plays with his legs, he will be fine.
The team is now 4-3, and with the Panthers next week, they have a good chance to go 5-3 and then come the top dogs of the AFC. We will quickly see how good this team is.
