Keep It in Perspective

It's easy to say that everything sucks after losing a game to your divisional rival 23-16 in a game where the offense scored 0 points in the first three quarters and just looked horrendous. The Broncos dropped to 3-3 after losing to the Chargers on Sunday; this is about where I expected this team to be. Sitting at 3-3 after six games is not the worst place to be, as we Broncos fans need to keep reminding ourselves that it is a year about developing our young QB. I think fans are panicking when seeing Caleb Williams play good ball the last three weeks and watching Jayden Daniels light it up week after week. Yes, Bo's progress seems to be a bit slower than theirs, but that shouldn't cause worry, as it has only been six games.

Nix has also played 3 of the top ten defenses in terms of ppg allowed in LA, Pittsburgh, and New York. Caleb has played 0 teams that fit that criterion, and Daniels has played one team like that, the Giants, who rank 10th. It's important to look at the context rather than go straight to the box score and statistics before comparing. I will say, though, that Nix must show more consistency as the season goes on in terms of playing solid football all four quarters. The theme this season for him is to be below average in the first three quarters and then make big plays in the 4th. I want to see him stay on schedule and play a clean game from start to finish. The only game I've seen from him like that so far was the game vs Tampa.

In terms of the rest of the team, the run game needs to help him out more. They ran for 49 yards if you take out Nix's 61 rush yards. Speaking of Nix's rush yards, I would also like to see Sean Payton incorporate some designed runs into the game and let him use his legs more because he has made some big plays each game with them.

Overall, this team is sitting fine at 3-3, and with the next two games being vs. the struggling Saints and Panthers, they have a golden opportunity to be 5-3 and gain some confidence before they hit the tough part of their schedule.
