When I look at this title, two people come in to mind, Lock and Fangio. The Broncos have nothing to play for in week 18 vs the Chiefs this Saturday. However, Drew Lock and Vic Fangio have a lot to gain and a lot to lose based on a win or lose.
Fangio:
With a win this week he could potentially keep his job. However, with a loss he is for certain not returning for 2022. Personally, I don't mind Fangio staying HC as long as OC and STC change and it seems like there will be major changes to the coaching staff. If the players are. willing to play hard for their coach and pull off a victory vs the juggernaut in KC, then why not keep Vic because it would seem that the players really want him back. On the flipside, if they show up flat and get stomped by KC, then Fangio is out of here.
Lock:
His situation is a bit more tricky. It's less black and white meaning it's not as simple as they win he's a starter in the NFL they lose he's a backup. Lock just needs to continue to put out good tape and play efficient turnover free football and hopefully improve in areas such as redzone and 3rd down. Lock in unlikely to start for Denver next year though they may retain him as a backup next year. If Lock is going to get another shot to start, it will not be in dove valley. Putting up a valiant effort vs KC even in a loss would definitely help Drew's case of being starter for another team.
