Sean Payton has officially anointed Bo Nix as QB1. He will start the season on the road in Seattle in week 1. I think this is a fantastic move. Though he is a rookie, he is older than your average rookie because of the amount of time he spent in college. But because of that, he looks to be more polished and NFL-ready than a typical rookie QB. I understand that the excitement is through the roof and I love seeing Broncos Country believe again, but I think we should be fair to the young man and have reasonable expectations.
All I want to see from Bo this season is improvement. He just has to be better in week 17 than he was in week 1. Yes, there will be ups and downs throughout the season. he may have an unbelievable statistical game in week 5 and just absolutely suck in week 7. He doesn't have to show improvement every single game but I just hope to see the little things improve such as footwork, decision-making, poise under pressure, etc... The numbers will fluctuate but I'm hoping the intangibles keep improving.
I don't have any predictions statistically for how he's going to do it because it doesn't matter to me what type of numbers he puts up in his rookie season. If he's unbelievable like CJ Stroud, great! If not, that is fine. He just needs to be good enough to where fans have optimism heading into 2025 and the team can start thinking about being a contender for the postseason. This season is all about building the foundation and figuring out whether Bo is the right leader for it!
There will not be a post for the next preseason game. My next post will be on Friday 9/6 to preview the Broncos' first regular season game vs the Seahawks. The real thing is almost here!!
Go Broncos!!!
