The Broncos won their second preseason game last night as they beat the Packers 27-2! Once again Bo Nix was awesome throwing for 80 yards on 8-9 passing for 1 TD and no turnovers once again. He got the ball out of hands quickly and made some nice throws over the middle of the field in between the numbers, something this offense lacked the last couple of seasons. His quick decision-making and accuracy are what excite me the most. The QB1 job is for sure his and I expect an announcement about that to be made soon.
Another cool thing to see was Tim Patrick scoring a TD for the first time in 2 years. After a year where he tore his ACL and then tore his Achilles the year after, you can't help but feel happy for him. Reports came out that he was on the roster bubble but after his performance this game going 4 catches for 30 yards and a TD, I think he has done enough to make the roster this year.
Those were my main takeaways. It's a little hard to evaluate the defense since the Packers offense didn't have any starters playing. Something that can be evaluated is how Javonte Williams looks. He looks to have an extra burst this season whether it is catching screens from the backfield or just running the ball. He looks faster and I am excited to see the running back trio of Estime, McLaughlin, and Williams.
It is only preseason so I don't want to get ahead myself but when you are a fan of a franchise that has been quarterback-deprived for almost a decade, you get excited over the smallest things. Sean Payton knows what he's doing and I trust he can bring the winning culture back to Denver.
